At Nuri, our name reflects a deep connection to heritage and tradition, as well as our Aboriginal, Irish, and English background. My English grandmother fell in love with an Aboriginal man.
“Nuri,” which means “fire” in the Wiradjuri language, embodies the warmth, light, and unity that our firepits bring to your space. We chose this name to honour our background and celebrate the vibrant culture that inspires our designs.
Nuri Meaning
Light: In certain contexts, “Nuri” can mean light or brightness, which relates to fire or illumination.
Sun: Refer to the sun or sunlight in broader Aboriginal languages, symbolising warmth and energy.
Our story is deeply intertwined with the Wiradjuri people, whose ancestral lands span across New South Wales. Tullibigeal, a significant part of this region, is where our family’s journey began. My grandfather was born in this area.
This connection to our land and history informs every aspect of our business, from the thoughtful craftsmanship of our firepits to our commitment to sustainability and quality.
At Nuri, we are proud to blend modern elegance with cultural respect, creating products that not only enhance your environment but also focus on natural elements such as lava rocks, concrete, stainless steel and metal.
